Being a Russian Spy Okay so check it out... I tried out for a musical and I really didn't think I was going to get in... but thanks to luck (or more likely God or fate [some would argue those are the same thing]) I got a part... like a leadish part. My character has a name, Rick Jones. I didn't really have a song picked out to sing for the try out... but during acting class, the day auditions were set, someone had a Les Miserables song book and I'm like "hey, do you think I could borrow that for my audition" and they were like "actually I'm singing something from Rent, so, you can have the book for a while". Seeing as I was in "Les Mis" in high school as Jean Valjean, I knew a solo that he sang. I haven't sang it for anyone in 3 years, but meh... anyway, after class I went to a piano room to sing through it a couple times... then I went home... ran through my monologue... and then went to auditions... that is why I say God must a really been behind me... cuz I was not really prepared. But I went into it with confidence and that helped.Anyway... that's awesome... so I kinda wanna tell you what the script says for the description of my character... check it out. RICK JONES: 25-35, "noir" Leading Man. Shifty, sexy, aloof, and sly; a military high-ranker who's actually a red agent. Does brief fake Russian accent. Powerful legit baritone to top "G," ... (Prototypes: Richard Denning in Creature From the Black Lagoon and Tom Tryon in I Married a Monster from Outer Space.) I mean... if that isn't a description of me... I don't know what is... Ya'll better come wee the musical in march... it is called Zombies from the Beyond. It is suppposed to be like a 1950's sci-fi movie. It is going to be awesome.
