Hey James This post is mainly for james but it could really apply to anyone. I was just think'n the other day about how much I wanna talk to James, but our scheduales are always contradicting... and now he doesn't even have a phone... well, james check out this app: Skype . It is a program that uses Voip to talk to other phones via the internet. Except here is the really cool thing... calls to the US (and canada) are absolutely free. It was originally set up just to talk from one skype account to another... but now it is free to call anywhere in the US. You could call any other skype user in the world for free also. Obviously you have to be near a computer with the application, but still it is pretty dang sweet. Emily, you could prolly use this app when you go back to college also. so, basically, james I didn't really know how else to get a hold of you, so I wrote this blog. Get the program and freak'n call me!!!!BTW, my skpe name is peteyboy100 and my new cell phone number is ***-***-****. I'm only going to leave this phone# online for a limited time... so memorize it... or something two years... Let me tell you about this past weekend. It was awesome... as in, alot of fun. As you may or may not know, Today marks the two year anniversary of when I asked Abby to be my girlfriend. Two years of a top notch relationship. We've been through good times and bad times... hardships and easyships, fun in the sun and hurt in the dirt... and through it all we have stuck together. I couldn't ask for a more amazing woman than Abby. So I won't even bother. Anyway, I've gotten off track. This Weekend Abby and I decided we would celebrate our anniversary by doing something together this past weekend. Originally we wanted to go camping. I did a bunch of research for about two weeks prior and found that most campsites were booked or quite far away. So I was looking for alternative things to do but just realy couldn't find anything that was spectacular. I want us to do something super fun and I didn't want to just do a simple picnic or whatever. That would have been fine, but I just wanted something more special. So last week wednesday I was basically freak'n out because I couldn't find anything to do. I let myself get really depressed and finally kind of gave up. Abby decided thursday a few ideas that we would do on friday, picnic and help people and so on. She also buzzed off her hair that day (I think it looks super cool). So friday morning I go into work I decide I've got to do something to make this weekend wonderful for Abby. So I go back to some of the leads I had gotten through my previous research and decide to check out some resorts I had looked into. Well, there just happened to be the perfect place in a town called sturgeon bay. This is a place on the edge of door county. The resort has an indoor and outdoor pool, a view of Lake Michigan, a whirlpool, a fireplace in the room, and a bunch of other amenities. I book a room for that night and search for a fancy restaurant. I find one called Sage, call em up, and reserve a table for two. I then call Abby (I'm incredibly excited at this point). I tell her to grab her fishing gear and pack a swim suit, a change of clothes, and something fancy to wear. She doesn't know where we are going but is excited as well. Man I tell long stories.... I'm going to try and short'n this up a bit. I got off of work at noon and we grilled out in a park in Oshkosh and then headed to Sturgeon Bay. Once there I told Abby that we were staying at a Motel 6. I acted like I was lost and had to stop at this Bridgeport Resort to ask for directions. Abby stayed in the car while I went in to "find out where we are". I check-in and came back out to the car and pulled in to the parking lot and said "I'm sorry I lied... we are staying here." Abby started laughing and got really excited. We moved our things into the room and freak out at how nice it was. We then got dressed up and went downtown to find the restaurant. We got there a bit early and just wander downtown a smidge. The town radiates a comfortable beauty. It has a small town / home town feel to it. It is so nice and so pretty. Anyway, we go to dinner and order wine with our meal. For our appetizer I decide to order escargot. I don't tell Abby that it is snail. I want her to try it first. I was excited to try it. It was really really good. It was in no way gross or icky or whatever. They cooked it in a mushroom cap and topped it off with a really nice bread crumb stuffing. I told Abby what it was and she didn't flinch. It didn't bother her at all, but she was excited for trying something so different. The meal was amazing. We both felt as though we were wealthy folks out for a night on the town. Everything was perfect. It really would have been the perfect place to propose if that was on the agenda, but it wasn't. Well, I don't know how to shorten things up apparently. The next day we went to three wineries. Got a tour of one and just did some wine tasting at the others. I bought two bottle of wine, one for my parents and one for me. I hope when I go to California this summer I get to go to some wineries. Anyway, we convinced Travis and Shelly to come up and hang with us and we got another room. This time it was a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen, fireplace, and deck. It was simply spectacular. (and by full kitchen I mean stove, oven, full fridge, more plates and silverware than I have at the apartment, more pots and pans and bowls also, a sink with disposal, and a dishwasher.) So Travis and Shelly came up and we had a blast. Went out to a different restaurant.... got ice cream downtown... swam for a while... played scrabble... went to pcik and save to buy breakfast food.... and in the morning Travis and I made breakfast; pancakes, eggs, bacon, and toast. I made a huge mess. We cleaned up a bit but left most of it for the cleaning staff. Then we went home. That is really as short as I can get. Sorry for the huge post. I hope you enjoy the pictures. Also I just want to say to Abby (on this public blog) that I love you so very much and these two years together have been simply the best two years of my life. I'm glad I've gotten to know you and grow as a person with you and I hope that God has big things in store for us. I also thank you for your prayers for us and our relationship... they mean more to me than you know. I don't know how to express my feelings for you through writing, except by saying....... I love you. Here I am Well, I figured it is time for me to update the world on my happenings. First I'd like to say that if things don't calm down, I'm going to turn into a 21 year old alcoholic. I'm going to start running again... I promise. God is the most confusing concept in the world (and/or out of the world I suppose). I have amazing friends. My niece is the absolute cutest child on the planet (see figure a).I started my job last week as a webmaster for my dining and commons on campus. My big task is to re-design the entire site and imporive it and make sure it is up to code. So, I am having fun doing that. I am also learning alot about web design and so forth. I wish I was a bit more creative. Oh well, you can't always get what you want. but I hear if you try sometimes... you get what you need. I've been visited the parents and fam in Mayville the last two weekends. It is always a good time. They are gett'n ready for the big move to California. If any of ya'll want to check out an amazing rummage sale you should stop by (my parent's house) some weekend soon. I've got some french movies that need to be watched. alot of stuff so, alot of stuff has been happening. Mike had a birthday. Abby had a birthday. Other people had birthdays. I went canoing. I hung out with some amish folks. I went swimming in a lake. I played indoor tag. I became a webmaster. I wrote some papers. I met a Kenyan. I did alot of things... but too much to go into detail. I didn't even list half of the things I've been up to. but, alas, I forgot to take pictures at all these things... so you will have to settle for this measly text. blarg-ararg. |
